Pros: He's cute, has a cute little face and to see him do songs can be cute.
Cons: He does soo little! He's not worth that 30 buck price tag under any circumstance!

| Furbster's Full Review: Poo-Chi The Interactive Puppy |
I must admit that I was curious long ago about this pup, as long as 8 months before he hit the market. Being someone with not enough money for Aibo, I decided I'd get this guy when he came out. After all he's from the makers of Furby, so I expected a whole lot!
Well when he was released my friend bought one. So she brought it to work and I got a chance to play with him.
When I opened the instructions I knew right away that this was nothing like I was expecting and certainly nothing like I had heard about before. The instructions were on a single sheet of paper, both sides. Furby's instruction book is 12 pages. The instructions are simple, let me give you the lowdown:
*It tells you where his sensors are (one touch sensor on his head that doubles as a speaker, light sensor in nose, sound sensor below nose, reset button inside of mouth and his bone).
*Next it described his battery installation. Very similar to Furby's instructions btw.
*Next is the instructions on how to use his sensors. That is obvious.
*Then it explains his eyes, which has a grand total of 3 looks, heart shaped, half mooned and blinking.
*Then it talks about his bone. You hold it in FRONT of his mouth, not in his mouth :P It's just a magnet. I imagine that kids and parents alike will loose this little thing easily! If you don't feed him all he does is growl, eliminating any other play.
*Then it talks about how to make him do songs. He has 6 songs (wedding march, camptown races, bingo, working on the railroad, Beethoven no 9, when the saints go marching on). The process is quite annoying. It'd be much easier just to have a separate button to access the different songs instead of this hold down the sensor for so long, then press it this many times type of method. Kids would have a hard time getting this procedure down, I know many of us in the office sure had a difficult time!
*Then it talks about him sleeping and communicating with other Poo chi's. Well they just sing songs together, nothing new I might add, from the other songs listed.
I must say that I love Furby and I have been enjoying him for 2 years. My attention span is not short. However I enjoyed Poo chi for about a total of... 35 minutes. If that. I think I'm being kind there.
So here's the thing, months later, exactly this month (Oct 00) I found a store demo model in a TRU bin. I snagged him up. A silver with blue ears one. He cost a total of 5.90 Bingo!
He's cute! I don't deny that. He's got a big ol head and a tiny body. He IS cute. So that's why I bought him. Plus I wanted to see them communicate together.
So I bring him, and my friends and mine 'sing' together. And that's it. Sorry Tiger Electronics - Poo chi is incredibly disappointing!
I expected so much more. Poo chi doesn't walk, he doesn't do more then whine, growl, bark, snore, stand up and sit down, and sing! Barking he does more of then I'd like. A toy managed to annoy me - and that's saying allot because I LOVE toys! But Poo chi actually annoyed me with all that loud ear piercing barking of his. I like watching him move and he is cute. But he just does _nothing_.
To look at him is to see pretty much all that he does.
I'm going to get an Tekno someday - everything I've read and seen is really cool and hear promises to be cool - like Poo chi should have been! When I do, I'll be sure to write a review on him. However everything I've read makes him a billion times cooler then Tigers Poo Poo Chi. Tiger spent more time on advertising then they did in developing a good toy.
And some day I'm getting an Aibo as there can't be nothing like the real thing, baby! :)
But I do know I won't be buying another Poo chi. He is worth exactly what I paid - 5 bucks. I wouldn't ever pay more then that. He's just not worth it.
If you are thinking about buying a Poo chi I'd advise that you find someone that owns one and play with theirs. See if this is something you'd REALLY want. I have a feeling that not too many kids would enjoy this for even as long as I did. So to a shelf Poo Chi shall go. Good try Tiger - he's cute, but he lacks all that stuff you implied!
Check out all the other selection out there of robotic dogs before you get this one.. believe me looks aren't everything, there is better then that of Poo Poo Chi.
