The Prada SPS07F sunglasses are currently the only designer sunglasses that I own. I purchased them at Sunglass Hut. The sticker on the sunglasses was $198, but had a friend who is an employee get them at around $150 with his discount. I have already worn these for a couple of years, and within my care, they are in excellent condition. If you are looking for stylish eye shields, the Prada SPS07F sunglasses maybe a great pair to consider.
-PRICE-
*You can go to NYS Shades in the mall and buy eye shield sunglasses for around $12. You can also buy other generic sunglasses for less than $20. So what makes these so special that they nearly hit the $200 mark? These are Prada designer glasses. Therefore, any designer item, no matter how small it may be, will fetch a great premium. Therefore, unless you are willing to pay the premium for designer goods, I would not recommend purchasing these glasses.
Otherwise, these were some of the lowest-priced eye shields available from an Italian designer. I also looked at Dolce & Gabbana, Bvlgari, and some others. Those glasses were all past the $200, with the Bvlgari being some of the most expensive. Other Prada eye shields also were selling well above the $200 mark. The closest comparable model, which featured a lighter lens and metal around the edges of the lenses, sold for around $220. Therefore, even when the Prada SPS07F sunglasses are selling for nearly $200, they are still considerably cheaper than what other brands have to offer, including within the same Prada line. But with these glasses, you still will have the Prada badge and the elegant look that you want.
**WARNING!**
*Be careful of knock-off items. You must be very careful if you are buying them second-hand on eBay or something like that. Also, if you are buying them off the streets, unless they are genuine "hot" items that "fell of the back of a truck," you will most likely be buying fakes. There are some fake sunglasses that look good, but Prada are among the worst looking ones. The reason that they look so bad is because they are obviously fake. How can you tell? Look at the red badge that says "Prada." You will notice that there will be no "Prada" written on the red badge on many of the fakes. Therefore, stay away from them unless you just want decent looking glasses for $10.
-BUILD QUALITY-
*Even though you are paying a fortune for such designer goods, they are still plastic. Though, after extensive use and good care, I have not noticed much wear and tear. The glasses have been holding up well. I also noticed that the lens is quite durable, and do not scratch easily. I have "bumped" the glasses into things a few times, and the lens still looks like new. When cleaning your glasses, I would recommend buying a cleaning kit. Overall, for plastic sunglasses, Prada has built pretty solid ones.
This can be purchased at a store like Costco and Sunglass Hut. It will come with a specially made cloth and solution. The solution will also be refilled free of charge at these stores. Do not wipe the lens with your shirt or other materials, since this might otherwise scratch it!
-LOOKS & STYLING-
*These are very nice looking eye shield sunglasses. This means that the lenses have an over-sized oval look. This covers a majority of the face. The lenses are also quite dark, which will shield the eyes away from other people. The arms are entirely black if you purchase the black model, and have the red logo with the words "Prada" on the left side. They also come in a variety of colors, though black is my favorite. They look a bit simpler than some of the more expensive models in the Prada line, but they still obviously look designer, especially with the logo written on the side. If you have the money and want something a little bit more flashy, I would recommend other Prada eye shields that have more colors on the arms, or even D&G or Bvlgari glasses. In my opinion though, they are simple yet elegant. Also, the price point, where they are under $200, makes them even more attractive.
The all-black model is the one I own. I feel that black is a very conservative color and will go well with just about any outfit. The glasses can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. They will complement a classy outfit very well for just about any occasion.
In terms of comfort, you do get used to them. At first, it was awkward wearing such large lenses, but after a little bit it's not so bad. In fact, I do find them to be quite comfortable now. They do have the cushions that go over my nose, which makes it more comfortable to wear them for an extended period of time.
-THE VERDICT-
*The Prada SPS07F sunglasses are some of the most affordable eye shields in the Prada product line. They are also some of the most affordable Italian eye shields on the market. If you want durable stylish eye shields with a designer name on them, and have a limited budget, then these would make a pretty good choice. If you want something a bit more exotic looking, then I would recommend looking at more expensive Prada models as well as other designers. For what you get, these are quite good. Also, I have worn these in the sun, and they do a great job protecting my eyes! :-) Sometimes we forget the most basic function when buying such designer products. Nonetheless, these make a great addition to my wardrobe, and they can for you too!
