| redhotleigh's Full Review: Hamilton Beach A607A 12-Cup Coffee Maker |
I am not a 'morning person'.(That's an understatement!)
Some people can just jump out of bed ready to face the day. My hubby is one of these people. I am not, and find his need for morning chatter hard to deal with, until I get my caffeine.
I am a zombie until I get my morning cup of coffee!
You get the picture. I can be a real bear!
My other cooffeemaker was very old. It would take over thirty minutes to make a cup of coffee. I would get tired of waiting, and pull the pot out during the brew cycle.
Coffee went everywhere!
My mother in law took mercy on me, and bought me the Proctor Silex Automatic Drip Coffeemaker A607A for Christmas.
I have used this coffeemaker daily for five months. Sometimes I use it more than once in a day. I also use it to make tea. I have not had any problems with this coffeemaker.
The Proctor Silex Automatic Drip Coffeemaker A607A
comes with color coded on/off switch. When set to the
'on' position, the button is red. When set to the 'off' position the button is black. This feature makes it easy to
see if the coffeemaker is hot.
This coffeemaker has a lid that covers the 'thingie'
where you pour the water in. It keeps dust and other debris from getting in it. Just 'flip' it up to pour the water in.
The coffee pot itself, holds up to twelve cups. You can make anywhere from two cups to twelve cups of coffee
at a time. The pot is marked at two cup intervals. It has a band at the top marking the twelve cup mark.
This pot has a plastic handle, that appears to be sturdy.
There are several ways to clean your coffeemaker. I empty mine out and rinse it as soon as I am finished with the coffee every morning. I put the pot and the basket in the dishwasher every other day. About every six weeks I run two cups vinegar through the coffeemaker, followed by a pot full of water - just to keep it fresh.
The Proctor Silex Automatic Drip Coffeemaker A607A uses any
standard size coffee filters. I have not had any problem finding filters for this coffeemaker.
This model does not have an automatic shut off.
I am glad it doesn't. Cold coffee is the pits!
One feature I do miss is the ability to program it ahead of time. But, for every problem there is a solution. I prepare the coffeemaker before I go to bed, and my dear hubby flips it on for me in the morning! (He doesn't like bears!)
Overall, I am very satisfied with the Proctor Silex Automatic Drip Coffeemaker. For no more than it costs,
it really does a great job!
