| jps246's Full Review: Pyramid Cafe |
While not fancy, the Pyramid Café at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is a great place to get a meal at any time of the day. Not only that, its usually one of the least crowded 24-hour restaurants in the area, so you dont have to wait too long to get a seat and start eating.
Offering a mix of sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizza and entrees, the Pyramid Café has a little bit of everything for every one. Not only that, but they offer breakfast around the clock so even if its dinnertime and you have a hankering for eggs and pancakes, rest assured youll be taken care of.
Where do I find the Pyramid Café?
The Pyramid Café is located on the casino level in the Luxor Hotel and Casino. Its easy to locate and is set up slightly from the casino floor so when you enter the restaurant, you look out across the gaming floor.
Theres a large amount of seating and theres usually not too much of a wait to get a seat. Most of the times weve been there, weve been seated right away.
Ambiance and Service?
The Pyramid Café tends to follow the overall theme of the Luxor, which is of ancient Egypt and Egyptian motifs in general. Theres really nothing special about the pyramid café though it has comfortable seating that isnt overly crowded together in a brightly lit and fairly relaxing area.
Since the restaurant is open to the gaming floors, you get the noise of the casino throughout the restaurant, though it isnt too overwhelming.
Service has always been good for me on my various visits to this restaurant. Were seated quickly, the food is well paced throughout our meals and the servers make and effort to make sure you are enjoying yourself while you are there.
What can I get?
I think youd have a harder time not finding something on the menu. Since this is a casino, they offer a full drink and wine menu. Thats followed up by a very extensive menu that offers everything from appetizers to Asian entrees with 24-hour breakfast in the middle.
The appetizers are pretty much what youd expect at any typical restaurant and include nachos, shrimp cocktail, chicken tenders, buffalo wings and quesadillas to name just a few. We have gotten the nachos and the buffalo wings a few times. They arent really anything special, but they are pretty good.
The Pyramid Café also offers soups and salads with all your traditional favorites like Caesar salad and garden salads. Some of these are entrée salads (or can be made into them) if you dont want to eat anything beyond that.
Next up youll find the sandwiches, burgers and pizza that the Pyramid Café offers. Ive enjoyed the Prime Rib Melt and the Western Grill Chicken Sandwich. Both are good and the portion size is hefty enough that most people wont be able to finish it (I know I wasnt). I havent heard any complaints about the burgers but I dont know anyone whos gotten pizza.
My partner has gotten the chicken parmesan and loved it and the New York steak that I got wasnt bad. Besides that there are various chicken, steak and seafood entrees. Ive never explored the Asian entrees that are available, but there is a fairly good selection to choose from if you did.
Then theres that round-the-clock breakfast thats available. I have to love a place that always serves breakfast since you never know when the hankering for a good breakfast meal is going to hit. Now I know that in Vegas 24-hour breakfast is nothing new or special, but I like the option, especially at a place like this where theres just so much to choose from whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner. Ive gotten the steak and eggs here along with their pancakes, all have been pretty good.
Prices
This is Las Vegas after all, so expect the prices to be fairly high. For breakfast youll probably spend around $15 per person while for lunch and dinner the price goes up to $20 to $30 per person depending upon appetizers, salads and the entrée you end up getting.
Overall Thoughts
I like the ease of getting to the Pyramid Café and the fact that its not often all that crowded so its almost always easy to get a seat right away. Thats something that cant be said about a lot of Las Vegas restaurants.
While its not the best food, it is decent and the service is good.
Whenever were at a loss for a place to eat and were in this portion of the strip, we always keep in mind the Pyramid Café, especially late at night. We often come here after weve landed on a late flight sit back, enjoy a meal and then make our way back to our room in one of the nearby hotels and go to bed.
I wouldnt travel to the Luxor just to eat here, but if I was in the area, Id definitely recommend that you check it out.
Check out the rest of the Las Vegas Strip
