| cmaw63's Full Review: Red Roof Lexington Southeast |
The Lexington KY, Red Roof Inn is located at 100 Canebrake Drive. It's easy to get to from I-75 at exit 104. Nearby restaurants include a Waffle House & Arby's. There are others within a few blocks, but those are the two right across the street and the ones we visited with no complaints about either. There are two convienence store/gas stations about 2 blocks away for anything you might need that you forgot to bring along. If you are needing a larger store a Wal-mart is easy to get to by turning right out of the hotel's parking lot and going straight for about 2 miles, it'll be on your left. Be prepared for the heavy traffic in Lexington that isn't as apparent near the hotel.
Check-in was a breeze. I had made reservations online a month beforehand as we were traveling, from Pigeon Forge, TN and thought Lexington would be a nice place to stop for a few days on the way home. The young man at the front desk had us on our way to the room within minutes. He was pleasant, welcoming and knowledgeable. When we asked him about a taxi to Keeneland racetrack he pulled out a city map the hotel provided with directions to most of the major attractions & stores. He showed us how easy it was to get to Keeneland and that it would only take about 20 minutes to do so. Saved us about $35 on a taxi. Anytime someone saves me money, I like them. For those of you that haven't been to Lexington...that city has the right idea! They built Circle Road that is exactly what it says... a highway that circles all the way around Lexington allowing you to find the street you need..almost impossible to get lost.
The interior corridors and elevator were clean and well maintained.
My mom & I were amazed at the spaciousness of our 2 full beds room. We have stayed at much higher priced hotels that didn't give us a room as large as this one. It looked and smelled clean. There was a maid coming out of another room next to ours and told us that after we got into the room, and looked around, to let her know if there was anything else we needed. We did request an extra pillow for my mom and it was delivered within 15 minutes. The beds were firm, without being overly hard. We had a coffee pot, microwave and mini-fridge in the room and a nice sized TV with cable channels. A small round table with two soft chairs were located in a corner of the room next to the windows. The table held a welcome basket that had coffee, candy and a bag of microwave popcorn. Thought it was a nice touch for a budget hotel. Only thing I could've complained about was the room was a little dim at night even with all the lights on.
The bathroom was large with the sink area being seperate from the tub/toilet area. The sink & mirror were located in what I would call an alcove that you passed thru to get to the bathroom. The sink area was large enough for both my mom & me to use the mirror at the same time. The shower was hot and had plenty of pressure. The only problem I could see..and it's a problem I can live with.. the shower was so warm that the vent couldn't keep up with the steam and when I stepped out it was into a steam fog.
There is an indoor pool and it looks nice, but since there seemed to be a convention of pre-teen boys at the hotel that held all their meetings at the pool, we didn't use it.
There is a continental breakfast and again appeared to be satisfying to the many guests that were taking advantage of it, mom and I passed.
Book online if possible. The standard rate was $60/night, but we got the "Red Hot Deal" for $54.99. With tax we paid approximately $62/night for 2 nights in a standard 2 full bed room.
