Blonde, red, brown, purple and streaked...my hair has been all these colors and more. While I enjoy experimenting with my hair, there is a price to pay. Dry and damaged are just two of the effects of hair coloring. I needed a shampoo that would clean, moisturize and repair my hair. While at my local salon I found Redken Extreme Shampoo. The front of the bottle has the claim fortifier for distressed hair. I had always thought of my hair as damaged...distressed seemed a much more dramatic...and appropriate word. I bought Redken 10.1 Oz. Extreme Shampoo bundled with Redken Extreme Conditioner 8 Ounce for $15.
What It's Supposed To Do Extreme Shampoo gently cleanses and helps restore distressed hair. Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers a unique 3D Repair Complex of proteins, ceramide and lipids to help provide internal strength, cuticle reinforcement and protective resurfacing. Hair is healthy-looking, manageable and shiny.
What I Say It Does Redken Extreme Shampoo makes my hair healthy-looking, manageable and shiny. Yep, it does what it says! Well...I'm not sure about the 3D and Interbond stuff, but my thick, wavy hair looks good when I use this shampoo. My distressed hair doesn't look stressed at all. I do keep up with regular trims at the salon, so I don't have a split end problem, but my dry/damaged hair is shiny and smooth. This shampoo does not leave my hair limp, lifeless or looking oily as some of the other shampoos that claim to help problem hair.
Why I'm Still On The Hunt
Why am I still looking for the perfect shampoo? One word... scent. It's not an offensive odor, but for some reason it makes me sneeze. Not once, but several times when I get a whiff of Redken Extreme Shampoo. It's a somewhat fruity odor crossed with something I can't identify. Good grief...sneezed 4 times when I took a whiff to try to identify the scent. I should know better!
