When my Firestone Affinity tires wore out on my 2000 Saturn LW2 Wagon after only 38,000 miles, it was time to choose a quiet, well handling replacement. I have been purchasing tires from Al's Tires in Santa Monica, CA for about 15 years, and I discussed buying Maxxum II Remingtons for their reasonable price.
However, I wanted a better quality tire such as the Michelins. The price for the Michelins, $130 each, seemed a bit high for my budget, and they recommended the REMINGTON EMERALD LX for me at $80 each including balancing and valves. Al's described this as a great handling tire, with touring construction, quiet with a long tread life of a 700 tread wear rating.
I felt that I could trust their advice, and so I had the new tires installed.
The improvement in handling was immediately noticeable, as well as the much smoother and quieter ride. These tires grip the corners effortlessly. What a pleasure.
