My child absolutely loves his Rescue Heroes Play Set. Along with this play set, he received the Fireman Rescue Hero, and Smokey, the Dalmatian. At first he didn't care about Smokey. Then, when I explained to him about Dalmatians at the firehouses, his interest seemed to pick up.
Smokey the Firedog is a super duper Dalmatian. He has a ladder attached to a red back pack, (the back pack is not detachable), that is extendible. We also found out quickly that the ladder is detachable, but pops back in to place every easily. He has over sized paws that are great help in keeping his standing on even the thickest carpeting. Like the rest of the Rescue Hero series, this animal looks determined to "put out that fire!", yet the facial expression is not frightening for even small children.
This toy is definitely a great addition to the Rescue Heroes series! My child enjoys having Smokey there to help save the day. My son loves to have Smokey, (who he calls Dots,) swoop up to the top of the building, (which is actually his bed), and save the family from the burning building! The age recommendation is for three years and up. The only reason I would go with this information, is because of the detachable ladder, as children younger then three still tend to put things in their mouth. It was very reasonably prices at $4.99. I would recommend this toy for any child who likes the Rescue Heroes!
