| jollyjess's Full Review: Rodin Museum - Paris |
I journeyed to Paris about five years ago now and I was fifteen years old at the time. We did a three week tour, mainly in Provence, but we spent about four days in Paris. I can not say enough good things about Paris! It is perfect for all ages, truly, though I recommend you bring children when they are old enough to appreciate all Paris has to offer. While there, we visited countless museums, one of them being the Rodin. Yes it is true that Rodin is responsible for creating some remarkable and famous scultures including "The Thinker" but for the most part most of his artwork seems to consist of unfinished erotic scultures, which can get a little old after awhile. I believe we stayed a total of one hour at the and I was bored after the first twenty minutes. The building in which the artworks are displayed is beautiful but is in need of serious repair. Many of the floorboards were cracked and splintered, which is dangerous to all of those wearing sandals. Also, if you come here in the summer it is very hot and the museum is not air conditioned! There are three floors of the museum with what seemed like endless rooms housing the displays and the first floor seems to house the only intricate Rodin works. I enjoyed the first floor and found it to be rather interesting. However, after reaching the second floor I was disappointed by the remaining works. They looked very unfinished and they seemed to all be the same! To really throughly enjoy this museum, not only is it essential that you are a fan of Rodin's but also an art enthousiast.
Cost- rather cheap, one of the least expensive museums, I think it's by donation.
Advice- go in the morning before it gets too hot outside. Also, this museum is not as large as most of the museums found in Paris and therefore arrive before it gets too busy otherwise you'll be very uncomfortable. Not suitable for children, they'll get really bored!
