So you are in the market for a high powered system, and want to build it yourself - going for Win2K.
Don't look any further than Tyan's Tiger 133. This is a superb all round board, capable of running dual PIII procesors up to 750MHz.
The real news of this board is that it does so much and has so much to offer, it can take either PC100 or PC133 RAM the 100 goes up to 2GB and the 133 up to 1.5GB.
Support for UDMA66 gives high speed transfer to and from disk, no onboard SCSI, but with a street price of less $200 thats not a bad deal.
Expandability is catered for by 6 PCI slots and a 4X AGP slot gives the capacity to handle a high end graphics card.
Other neat features include the wake on LAN and wake on ring features, it also has nifty chassis intrusion connector (should be handy for those with 2GB RAM sitting in there.
So there you have it a well rounded product that can be a good start for high end hobbyists. You have the abiity to run anything from a PII 450 upwards, meaning you can swap over most of your existing components and upgrade to a single faster cpu and maybe later go to dual cpus.
