Cons: Amount of ram, motherboard, sound, mouse, preloaded software, stability, NOT FOR HARDCORE COMPUTER USERS!!!, speakers
The Bottom Line: I do not recomend this to ANYBODY because you think your getting a good deal, but your wrong. You might as well as spend 200 bucks more for a DELL.

I bought the emachine 600is at circuit city for $500 minus the $75 mail in rebate. I thought that was a pretty good price. Setup is soo easy. E-ware and eboard are really unusefull programs. They make the system more unstable than it already is and uses up VERY VALUABLE system resources. Of course, Windows ME is GREAT. The Sun Microsystems software they have preloaded on here is also a joke. The speakers, motherboard, and amount of RAM are a joke. The first thing i did was get on ebay and get more RAM. I had bidded for a 64MB stick and won the auction. When the memory finally got to my house he had accidentally sent me a 128MB stick. Me being an honest person, I emailed the guy to check if he wanted me to send the 128MB stick back to him but he said it was OK and that i could keep it. That made my day. I put it in the computer and it made a whole world of a difference. Sun Microsystems word processor still takes a while to load. Now onto the motherboard. IT'S A JOKE!! It only has a total of 3 PCI slots and nothing else. The system is SOOOO unstable all the time and sometimes you cant shut it down, you have to hold the power button until it shuts off. The onboard graphics is also a huge joke. That is one of the reasons why it is soo unstable. I had also bought an ATI ALL IN WONDER PRO with 8MB of ram and it helped the system stabililty A LOT!! Unfortunately, I fried it about a month ago when i was installing a Turtle Beach Montego II Quadzilla sound card and had to take it out and use the onboard graphics again. The motherboard cant even handle a printer being hooked up to it. Of course my system became unstable again and cant leave it running for long or freezes up. I am in the process of getting a new motherboard and graphics card. I already have a new case because the emachine's case is NASTY looking i think. The only person who really could use this computer are grandmas. I wouldnt even buy this computer for a 4 year old.
