Cons: Doesn't charge other mp3s, average radio reception
The Bottom Line: The iH5 is a good product and I'm satisfied with it. It's worth buying for someone who owns an iPod but it's less appealing for owners of other mp3 players.

I bought this product to replace my existing alarm clock. The appeal of it is the ability to charge and listen to your iPod with decent quality speakers. It comes with several inserts to fit a variety of iPod sizes and they are labeled so it's easy to tell which one you need to use, unlike some other products. This worked great for me because I was tired of having to plug my iPod into my computer to charge it. However, it's not worth buying if you don't have an iPod. You can plug other mp3 players into the iHome using a provided cord, but it won't charge them. I like having the ability to change the brightness of the clock display because other clocks can be too bright at night. It's nice that it has a switch for daylight savings time because it saves you from having to go through all the numbers for changing the clock. However you have to make sure that the switch is on the right setting when you first set the clock for it to work effectively later on. Overall the unit is very attractive. The dials for volume and tuning have a good level of sensitivity so it's easy to get a comfortable volume. As far as the radio reception, it's about average. I don't get great reception but it's acceptable. The iHome iH5 is overall a good middle-of-the-road product and I would recommend it to people who own iPods.
