| cmaw63's Full Review: Sakar Digital Concepts CH-3925R 2 Hour AA/AAA Batt... |
When I received my Canon A520 digital camera it didn't take long for me to realize I wanted rechargeable batteries for it. A quick trip to Wal-mart gave me plenty of charger options. I knew after a few minutes of looking that I was going to buy the Sakar Digital Concepts 2 hour battery charger
Why?
I had never bought a battery charger before, so I wasn't sure what I was looking for. What sold this charger to me was the four AA batteries and car charger that was included in the package. I noticed it was one of few that could be switched from an AC/DC plug to a car charger, and the only one that included the car charger. I do a lot of traveling and being able to bring my batteries back to life while driving place to place is a major plus.
The four 2300mAH AA batteries are hardworking and long lasting. I have taken over 500 pictures in a single day without having to charge them. When I am in photographer mode I take several pictures, for several days. I do recharge the batteries daily, whether the indicator on my camera shows a low charge or not. I am impressed with the batteries that came with this charger enough that when I bought a camera that needed four, instead of two, batteries to operate I purchased another set (that is sold separately) to have back-ups. The Sakar Digital Concepts CH-3925R will charge AAA batteries, also. I do not have a need for AAA batteries, so haven't used it for that purpose.
The base holds up to four batteries, but has a small switch that can be changed to charge only two at a time. You must have the switch on the correct number of batteries in the base or it will not charge. There are two indicator lights. Red the batteries are still charging, green they are fully charged. There is a small plug at the top of the base that allows either the AC/DC cord or the car charger to be plugged into it. I've found that both fit snugly into the plug-in hole, without having to worry there is a loose connection. The base is lightweight and feels flimsy, but has stood up to its fair share of bumps and drops. It made a flight from New York City to Illinois in the same suitcase that ended up with a broken curling iron and hair dryer. It still works fine, the iron and dryer had to be thrown away.
While the name says 2 hour charger I have found that it takes an hour, or just a little over, to get the batteries fully charged. As I mentioned above, I do not let them become completely dead before re-charging them.
Would I buy this charger again?
Definitely! My Sakar Digital Concepts 2 hour battery charger was purchased over a year ago and works like new. I'm still using the original batteries that came with it. I've had no problems with charging my batteries, fairly quickly, while at home or on the road. I bought the base, four batteries, AC/DC charger and car charger for $18.99. I can't imagine the amount of money I would have spent on regular batteries if I didn't have the Sakar Digital Concepts 2 hour battery charger.
