| shushi's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 570 B 15 inch Monitor |
The Samsung is a great value in my book (If you take a look at my other reviews, value (cost, factoring in quality) is my number one decision maker for recommending a product).
First off, I had purchased 3 viewsonic VG150s, and 2 out of 3 had bad pixels (basically, there were pieces of the screen that didn't work). After purchasing 3 Samsungs, only one had a bad pixel, and it went away after a little tapping. I also picked up an IBM 15.1 LCD and it wasn't as clear as the Samsungs, but costed $100 more.
First off, quality. Most LCD monitors display nicely at a specified resolution. Unlike traditional monitors, LCDs generally look "fuzzy" when viewed at other resolutions besides the "factory intended" one. However, the Samsung didn't seem to be affected by this. The viewsonics, on the other hand, only looked good at 1024 x 768.
Additionally, the Samsungs have a pivot feature. This allows you to turn the monitor sideways, fitting a whole page onto a screen (papers are generally 11" high, not 11" wide. This portrait/landscape feature is a nice plus for a monitor in the same price range as other without said features.
I am running three of these in a tri-monitor configuration and am extremely satisfied. I would highly recommend these to anyone interested picking up an LCD.
