So while shopping around to populate our wedding registry, my future wife to be happened across this Samsung Microwave Oven. What caught her eye was that it was not only a microwave oven, but also a toaster oven. Our toaster oven just broke so this would fit perfectly on our counter.
How does it work? Well the microwave portion works just like most any other microwave. You place your food (in a bowl) in the center of the oven on the rotating glass plate. You select your time and power setting. Hit Start! The glass plate rotates as your food is heated. One of the best bonuses is that this microwave is amazinly quiet compared to our old microwave. We have it sitting pretty close to the kitchen table and were able to heat up some food while still holding a conversation with our friends. I even stopped the conversation to point out that the microwave was currently heating up their food!
The Toaster! This is the cool part. First off, you have to insert the crumb tray in to the slots near the bottom of the oven area. Then you insert the tray that your bread or whatever you want to toast sits on. After you close the door and press the Toast button, two metal heating rods rotate from the side of the oven to underneath the tray your bread is resting on. Another set of heating rods are permently mounted to the top of the oven to make sure everything is heated evenly. After the heating cycle completes, the two lower heating rods rotate back to the side out of the way.
Overall opinion? I was hoping my wife wouldn't like it so much since it costed close to $200. I could easily find another microwave and a toaster oven for less than $200. however it works pretty well. The microwave feature is extremely quiet so we love the fact that we can talk, or watch TV while heating up leftovers. (Our kitchen and family room are next to each other) The toaster feature also works very well. Everything heats up evenly. Of course we have only toasted bread in the last 4 months, but I'm sure we will find something else to toast sooner or later.
