After I tried out and fell in love with the Sanford Liquid Expresso Porous Point Pen set I started looking around for others. The neon assortment in this pack is nice but might be too bright for some peoples taste but for me, they are simply awesome. If youve ever use the Expresso pens from Sanford then youll know that these are capable of extremely fine line work and the tip is strong enough that it holds up to hours and hours of use, even if you have a heavy hand. I really love writing with the standard Expresso colors [black, blue and red] and to be completely honest, they are an awesome pen to write with but they dont cost an arm and a leg. These are not refillable so if you lose one of them, its no big deal to replace it. If you are looking for an acid free ink that dries almost instantly and you want all that with an extra fine tip and you want cool colors
this is the pen for you!
Sanford Liquid Expresso Extra Fine Porous Point Pens Neon Colors - 34503
If you are someone that loves to add a little, or in this case a lot of color, to your writing then these make for a great pick. The colors are vibrant and have a nice impact to them but they arent as overpowering as most neon type pens. The ink is acid free so these are great for scrapbooking needs or if you are worried about the ink ruining paper over time. Sanford claims that this is also water resistant, that is not the same as water proof so dont expect this to hold up to rain or use it outside to mark your flower pots or vegetable rows. When they say it is water resistant they mean that the ink wont run if exposed to a small amount of water. Chances are if you spilled any amount of water on a piece of paper and this ink was used in it, it would be ruined regardless of whether the ink ran or not.
The tip is extra fine, .3mm to be exact, so if you are someone that writes small and has had trouble with other pens of this nature in the past, this one delivers a sharp line every single time. Ive yet to have a point break, snap or wear out in fact, I use up every drop of ink in them and the tip still looks like its brand new. The only downside to this is that it isnt refillable but that can be a good thing if you are someone that constantly loses pens. These are inexpensive but write like the cost a fortune. I really like the fact that the bottom of the barrels are clear, not only can you see exactly what color you are grabbing but you can also see exactly how much ink you have left and when its time to stock up on them. It does take a while to get used to the ribbed area where the ink flows in to and how to read it to see how much ink is left, but its easy enough to figure out.
One of the nicest things about this pen is that the ink flow is seamless. You will rarely experience the ink skipping or stopping and more often than not when that happens its because of something that is on the paper that is preventing it from sticking to it. You can use this on almost any type of paper but glossy stock or photographs are a little tricky. This is when you need to experiment a little to see if the ink is going to adhere to it or not. These arent designed to write on black paper but on darker shades of paper like purple, blue and green they work nicely.
Colors
These are technically classified as neon colors but in my opinion they arent really as loud or obnoxious as most neon colors. This pack includes one pink, lime green, purple and red extra fine tipped pens. The colors are nice and all work well together and they really compliment the other colors in the Expresso line. These are great to use when you are writing notes, leaving a memo or need to write a message on a page to ensure that someone sees it.
Price
You can find these at most office supply stores for about four to five dollar a pack. These do cost a little more than regular extra fine tip pens but once you give them a try I am sure youll see that they are worth the extra cash. If you arent sure if these are for you or not you may want to pick up one of the regular Expresso pens [available in red, black and blue] to try them out, if you like the way they write then you can invest in this pack and not have to worry about not liking them.
The Bottom Line
If you are someone that does a lot of writing and like the feel of using a marker but hate ink globs then this might just be a great product for you to try out. These can be used on a variety of different styles of paper and since they have a neon hue to them, they look great on darker types of paper. The quick drying, smudge free ink allows you to writing without having to worry about it smearing or getting all over your hands. So far Ive had noting but good luck with these and I highly recommend them to anyone that is looking a extra fine tip pen to work with.
As always, thanks for the read!
