| mixer107's Full Review: Sanyo SCP 4000 Cell Phone |
I finally made the choice to get my first cell phone after seeing how everyone else around me had one. I was in the market for a dual band cell phone that didn’t look too bulky. I didn’t even consider a Sanyo phone at first because I didn’t associate the brand with quality. After weeks of research and shopping around, I decided to go with the Sanyo SCP-4000. I was also tired of seeing everyone with Nokia phones, so I wanted something a little different.
First of all, this is a very thin and lightweight phone. This gives it a sleek look without being too small to hold. It also has a blue backlight, which looks great in the dark compared to a green backlight. The vibrating ringer is also a great option and one of the main reasons I made the purchase. I feel that this option should be on every cell phone so that there will be less interruptions in places such as movie theaters. The battery will last about 3 hours talk time and 120 hours standby, which is adequate. There is also an optional battery that will last longer. Even the AC charger included is compact because the pins of the charger can fold in.
The has many features in other phones with a little more such as call history, phone book, a mini web browser, voicemail, text paging, a game, roaming, and a calculator. It also tracks your airtime, but warns that it is not too accurate.
The phone book is interesting in that you can program several numbers under one name. You assign a label to each number under that person such as mobile, home, work, and data. There seven different labels for each person you include.
Since this is a dual band phone, there is an option to warn you when you will enter analog territory. The phone cell can also disable the analog feature. I have not tried the browser option yet because I’m too cheap to use the service.
The buttons are nicely laid out on the phone. The center directional button is a great idea, making it very easy to navigate through the menus. It is much better than having just arrows pointing in different directions. The power button is also indented into the phone so that it has a less of a chance of being accidentally pressed.
Now that I’ve owned this phone for about 2 months, I have to say that I am impressed with the quality. My only complaint is the phone gets a little warm after long use, but that may also be true of other phones in general. I still love the way the blue backlight shines at night. Overall, I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a great dual band phone, or just someone sick of looking at Nokia phones.
