| Suzapaul's Full Review: Sardi's |
My husband and I visited Sardi's a few years ago after seeing a show. We heard only good things about it, so we thought we'd give it a try. We arrived early (a little before 5:00 p.m.). In fact, there were no other diners there.
The dining room was filled with tables for four in the middle of the room and two seater tables along the perimeter. Now when I say two seater tables, I mean just that, you have to sit next to each other, you cannot sit across. This is fine for couples who like this, but we like to sit across from each other when we dine and talk.
However, when we asked to sit at one of the four seater tables in the room, we were coldly denied, claiming they were being held for the "parties of four". I almost asked where the candid camera was. After my remark about "waiting until one was available" didn't get a chuckle, we begrudgingly sat at one of the two seaters.
In spite of our disappointment with the seating, the food turned out to be quite good and the service adequate. I had a special that consisted of seasoned boneless chicken breasts decorated with a delicious ribbon of mashed potato around the plate. However, we would never go back there, if I wanted to sit at a picnic table I'd go to a fair. So, Sardi's get over yourself, you are still a restaurant and should treat your customers accordingly.
