I don't know - we were SOOO frustrated by the whole thing -- From what I've heard / other reviews mine must have been a dud! lol Glad you are having good luck with yours. Judy

My husband brought a pair of these home from work, and we have been messing with them tonight. We are able to mute the TV and still hear the sound in the headphones. I wonder if yours simply aren't working properly?

Thanks for all the info -- It must just be my unit. Try as we might, we cannot get our headphones to function like they should. It's a good company - I guess we just ended up with a "lemon!" Yours sound like what we wanted! :o) Judy

My volume's just fine! (Reply to this comment)

Hello, Judy. I bought the RS 120's around two months ago, and love them. To focus on your comment regarding the volume, I'm puzzled. I'm an old rock n roll drummer, without the greatest of hearing, but these headphones at max have ear-splitting volume. (Yeah, I tried it once...never again!) Maybe we have different needs, but, as far as my set, if I tried to listen to something at max volume for any length of time, I'd be deaf in a week. Second, as to the "sound on", I'm even more puzzled. I turn the sound on my TV down to "zero", so nothing is coming out of the TV, and everything works fine. I have no idea what's going on with your unit...I swear.

Only my opinion, based on my personal use. Before I bought them, I checked out the Amazon customer ratings (over 500). While some people didn't like them for a variety of reasons, I don't remember anyone complaining about the volume.
