Solarcaine works, but I use Veterinary approved cream!

If you want immediate sunburn pain relief, use Solarcaine Aloe Extra Burn Relief. But if you want lasting tan results, use something else!
My legs are definitely ugly - white scaly psoriasis cover parts of my lower legs and knees. My Dermatologist recommends sitting in the sun ten minutes every day to help keep the psoriasis under control. But since I work full time, it is difficult. So my alternative is to use a tanning bed for the summer months, at least this way I can wear shorts and my legs don't look too bad. The Dermatologist says that I can use the tanning bed as long as I keep it moderate and under 350 uses in my lifetime. I try to use common sense with my tanning, but every year it seems I have a problem.
This year when I started my twice week tanning sessions, I made the mistake of reaching out of the bed for the towel to put over my face. Little did I know that my bathing suit rose up and left a strip of white "never seen sunlight" skin. Yow did that hurt! Then several sessions later I switched to the stand-up tanning booth and you can imagine what happened to my underarms! Yes, I know about sunburn. Yes, I know about sunburn relief. And I know that if my skin peels after a sunburn, I have lost the tan in that area and I look ugly with a splotchy tan. So not only do I want a product that will provide sunburn relief, I also want a product that will keep me from peeling.
Solarcaine will provide sunburn relief. It's main ingredients are aloe vera gel and vitamin E. But it always seems that when I use Solarcaine, I peel. I have also used Aloe Vera 100% Pure Gel, manufactured by Fruit of the Earth, which contains Vitamin E. My skin feels much better, but again I always seem to peel.
My favorite product for sunburn relief is Bag Balm, produced by the Dairy Association Company in Lyndonvillle, Vermont. This antiseptic is made of hydroxy-quinoline sulfate in a petrolatum lanolin base. It has the look and texture of vasoline, so it goes on very thick and stays sticky on your skin. I use this product if I am going to be home and not wearing my good clothes, and I really slather it on. Bag Balm is made for cow's udders, and used if they are chapped, windburned or sunburned. The protective coating of Bag Balm keeps the cow's udder tissue soft. This is what I want for my skin - soft tissue so it won't peel. I bought Bag Balm at our local drugstore for $10, for 10 ounces. It smells real good and it works! I get both sunburn relief and no peeling.
But I switch to a different product if I need to get dressed and leave the house. I use Eucerin, Dry-Skin Therapy, Original Moisturizing Creme. Eucerin is the #1 dermatologist recommended brand for dry skin care. It provides long lasting moisturization that helps to relieve extra-dry, chapped or chafed skin. It contains petrolatum. mineral oil, lanolin and others. It goes on nice and cool and my sunburn feels much better. It has the texture and look of Crisco Shortening, so you can imagine how thick it is. It rubs into your skin and completely disappears. Be sure your skin is completely dry before putting it on or else it will just roll around and not soak in. When I slathered Eucerin all under my arms after I got them burned, the relief was immediate and I never peeled. Eucerin stays on your skin all day without having to put another coating on, plus the unsunburned part of your skin will feel soft and smooth. Eucerin says to avoid contact with the eyes, so I interpret this as meaning I can use on my face (which I do.) With Eucerin, I get both sunburn relief and I never peel.
If you want only sunburn relief, Solarcaine definitely works. But if you want to keep your tan looking great after the burn, use either Bag Balm or Eucerin. Of the two, Bag Balm is my favorite. A cow sure does spend a lot more time in the sun than I do, so it's sunburn has to be worse! Bag Balm - an udderly good product!
