Cons: Questions about Sony's reliability and service.
The Bottom Line: I hope Sony pays attention to quality control and customer service, because when they get it right, their products are excellent.

| padberg's Full Review: Sony CCD-TRV138 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder |
We received this receiver almost 4 years ago as a replacement for the STR-DE925(?) that stopped working. The original was under warranty and after 2 nightmare months, Sony gave us the STR-DE935 as a replacement. In the end, we got lucky. This is a great receiver. We didn't realize how good until we got a DVD player and optical digital cables and out came awesome DTS and Dolby Digital sound. We also replaced our TV with a Sony KV-27FV17. Better than going to the movies! Our whole system is now Sony components.
Yesterday we added an optical digital connection between our CD changer and the receiver. There wasn't a optical digital port for the CD on the receiver, so we used the MD port. Then we used the IR set function on the remote to program the MD button to control the CD changer functions. Works great. We have excellent sound at even low volume levels.
I love the remote that came with the STR-DE935. It is the RM-LJ302 model and comes with it's own instruction manual. I still haven't figured out all the options. I love to customize and this receiver and remote certainly give me that option.
The only thing that stopped me from giving this receiver an excellent rating is Sony's inconsistency over the last 5 years with reliability and service. This is our third Sony receiver in the last 20 years (not counting the one that broke) and we will buy another when this one dies or technology demands we upgrade.
