| jchristl's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-E565 Personal CD Player |
When I first bought this product at Best Buy, it was the most expensive portable CD player in the store that they had. My model came with a car stereo kit (which I never used), but it was cool that it was there if I needed it. also I saw two other guys at work that had the same models too.
It was a Sony, so how could I go wrong? Well....
At first it worked real good: skip protection, different types of musical modes (random, 10 sec., etc), Groove bass, loud, and what all else. The battery compartment was easy to get to. It seemed like there may have been a little too much room in there, but I never had a problem swapping batteries on the go. Other models hide the battery compartment up under the CD inside the player; I don't like that.
It seemed to not perform up to par after a couple of months. I may have dropped it once or twice, but not a whole lot. I'm not sure what was going on. It would simply shut off, no matter what I was doing. At first I thought it was the batteries going dead, then I thought it was the batteries not making the connections correctly. Needless to say, if I held the unit upside-down, it worked okay. This constantly became a pain in the rear, and ultimately I had to move on.
Also it seemed to have trouble with some factory CD's that had a lot of music on them (over 80 minutes?). I had to re-burn them on my PC just to get to listen to them.
UPDATE - Sept 16th, 2002
-----------------------
I probably should have made it known that although I have dropped this a couple of times, I don't feel that was the cause of the performance trouble I began to experience. There were two other people in my office that had this product, and they both had the exact same problems, one never took his player out of the office.
