| ftn32696's Full Review: Sony STR-DE985 6.1 Channels Receiver |
I have had this receiver for two months now. I use it in conjunction with a Polk audio speaker system, RM7600. The sound quality reproduction for 6.1 surround is amazing. I did not think that this receiver was that hard to setup. The amount of time is what did take awhile. It took an hour or two. But I wanted to make sure everything was right and did not buy it with "plug and play" in mind. I did have the help of Crutchfield.coms "home audio setup guide". Which clarified for me items that were not easy to understand from the receivers owners manual. But once it was set up I was very pleased. The learning remote that is supplied is the first remote that truly took the place of all of my remotes. (Special functions of some remotes is about the only things I can not control, i.e. I have a screen-saver button on my DVD player remote.) This was one thing the manual did explain well. The options for hookups is outstanding. This receiver will not be outdated in the next month like a lot of electronic purchases I've made. I would recommend this receiver to anyone who is not looking for one in the thousands.
