Pros: A good product, definitely better than most of the others
Cons: Can't compare to Bose; get that if you can afford one
The Bottom Line: It's fine as an alarm clock and CD player. Radio reception is not that great, however.

| rosedaletexas's Full Review: Sony ICF-CD823 Clock Radio |
If you are shopping for a CD alarm clock, bring a CD with you to the store. Often radio reception is poor in the shops due to all the electronics around, so this way you can accurately compare the sound of the various models using a song that you know.
I purchased this item a week ago at Circuit City. Although I'm fairly happy with it, I'll be returning it today. My friend just got a Bose Wave Radio, and there is no comparison in terms of sound quality.
What I like about the Sony: it has better CD sound than all the other CD alarm clocks at the store: the RCA, the Phillips, the Casio, and even the cheaper Sony model. I also like the fact that the glow of the clock is not too bright, a complaint I have had about my previous alarm clock (and my excuse for upgrading to a CD alarm clock!) I also found that the machine is easy to program and works accurately - it woke me up with a pre-chosen track from my latest favorite CD at the right time.
What I didn't like so much: it comes with a very simple antenna that gets poor radio reception. I wouldn't let this stop you from buying one; just hang onto your receipt in case you have the same problem. Perhaps a better antenna can be attached - I didn't open it up to see if this is possible.
