I bought this bike in 2006 to replace a stolen one. Mostly I have praise for this bike. The only drawbacks I would say are that the shifters have needed a lot of adjusting, and the unnecessarily weird, bulky headset make it hard to mount headlights and computers, and the seat and post that came with lasted about a week.
As for the ride- it's incredibly smooth and comfortable. I live in Albuquerque, and I commute everyday- about 3 miles and 500 of elevation. I also have a full set of panniers and a rack.
Most of my riding is around town, and most of the streets are not smooth- lots of cracks and the occasional pothole that I can't get around. For the most part, this bike takes everything in stride. I've put nearly 10,000 miles on it and it's still going strong.
I did have to have both wheels respoked, because the anodized ones that came with the bike blew out in the first month. Also, unfortunately, I bought this bike from the WORST bike shop in town ABC Cyclery. They did not stand behind the product and took forever to do repairs. Even though I get lifetime free tuneups from them, I pay to have my bike serviced and Two Wheel Drive in Albuquerque.
