It is true that protein builds muscle and that any bodybuilder or average weightlifter needs protein to produce gains. However, many people believe that by taking protein through supplements is going to make them huge and make unbelievable gains, when this is not necessarily true.
I have been taking many supplements and lifting weights for around three years now and the fact is that I gained more weight and have been making more gains since I got off the protein. I have read in many magazines that protein supplementing is just hype and that you eat all the protein your body needs in one day. Which now after I have taken many different proteins I believe.
True Im no expert but I have learned out of experience and will probably not be taking anymore protein supplements for awhile, I really think that its a waste of time,money, and that by taking all that extra protein you could harm your body.
