| joy9077's Full Review: St. Ives Collagen Elastin Essential Moisturizer |
12 oz for about $4.00.
-WHAT IS IT FOR?
As said on the bottle, "Dramatically improves skin's texture leaving it firm, smooth and revitalized. As skin matures, collagen and elastin, the vital proteins responsible for youthful skin's firmness and elasticity, diminish. St. Ives Swiss formula essential moisturizer with vitamin C lavishes collagen-elastin replenishment to your skin, helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Leaves skin smooth and revitalized."
-HOW DO I USE IT?
"Apply to both face and throat morning and evening."
-WHERE CAN I FIND IT?
You can buy it almost any drug store. I bought mine at Wal Mart. Also, visit them on their website at www.stives.com.
-WHAT IS IN IT?
It is a facial moisturized with natural ingredients. The first ten ingredients listed are: Water, Mineral oil, Propylene glycol, Glyceryl stearate, Peg-100 sterate, Stearic acid, Soluble collagen, Hydrolyzed elastin, Safflower oil, Tocopheryl acetate.
-WHAT CAN THE PRODUCT DESCRIBE ITSELF AS?
It is a white goopy cream. It absorbs into the skin quickly. It did not fight my oil or shine. It has a light and pleasant smell.
-HOW LONG WILL THE PRODUCT LAST?
Because it is such a big product it seems like it would last a year but because it is in a tub, it is hard to regulate how much you use daily and it is easily overused. I haven't gone through an entire container yet but I say it will last about 3 or 4 months. I found that it is a great product to use not only on the face and neck, but my lips, and entire body.
-DID IT WORK?
I've decided to change my regular facial products to the highly recommended ones on epinion. I've started using St. Ives Swiss Formula Purifying Facial Clear Pore Cleanser (read my review on it) and it has really dried out my skin to the point where the skin around my lips started to crack. I began to used the essential moisturizer and kept slathering it on my extra dry areas several times an hour before a party I had to go to. I was surprised that it didn't feel like a thick layer of cream sitting on my face especially after how much I was putting on. I was expecting to have a major breakout the next morning but I didn't. I've never been big on moisturizer because it seemed to stimulate my acne growth. I've learned that collagen stimulates new cell growth. I've read in a magazine that laser surgery stimulates collages to help new skin cell growth and lessen the appearance of scars. Collages was also supposed to plump up the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Well, my left cheek has a few acne scars and it does look a lot less noticeable! Twice a day, I've applied a thin layer on my lips and it hasn't felt so soft, smooth, and it seems as if my natural lip color has brightened! Try it for 2 days, you will notice an incredible difference. Also, it did not leave a disgusting taste on my lips in case you're wondering. I now use a thin layer of the moisturizer in the morning and afternoon. At night, I like to put on a thicker layer. I'm still surprised that I haven't had a recent major breakout!
HOW DID I RATE IT?
I absolutely love this product but I can't give it 5 stars because it leaves my face extra shiny after a few minutes. It might be because it's so humid in Hawaii. Also, it is a bit messy because as the bottle gets emptier, the way you place your fingers in the tub tends to get some in your nails. Under your nails are dirty, I'm sure you don't like rubbing that in your face. I'm thinking about buying a pump and transferring the product.
