| ns1998's Full Review: Stage Deli |
The Stage Deli is a great treat for anyone outside of NY who longs for good old fashioned, mega-portion deli food. I have eaten there a few times and have been treated not only to great food (try any of the smoked fish platters), but to several stories by friendlier than average (for NY)waiters about stars the have served. Although I don't want those sorts of things to impress me, it does add to the fun. While this is a great place to eat, I have actually had bigger portions (and often better prices) at the less famous Roxy Deli (near the Marriott Marquis). The whitefish salad sandwich, for example, at the Roxy, features two fist-sized scoops of fresh salad for about 12 dollars. All in all, you can't go wrong at either place. So if the stage is too crowded, there's usually a bit more room at the Roxy.
