Pros: The price; the pump

The Bottom Line: I am not recommending this. There are too many negatives about it in spite of the price.

I have used a lot of Suave products so buying Suave Skin Therapy Lotion with Vitamin E & lanolin was not unusual. At $2.99 for 18 ounces, it was hard to pass up.
About this product and the claims:
I use a lot of moisturizer. I use it everywhere on my body and have moisturizers in many rooms in my house, my pocket book, car and gym bag. This 18-ounce plastic bottle is too large to throw in a pocket book, but it is the perfect size to sit on my windowsill over my kitchen sink.
It has a pump applicator making it almost impossible to travel with. But again the size would be too big and unnecessary. However it also comes (and this is according to the website, cvs.com and drugstore.com dont list it) in a 10-ounce bottle.
It claims to have rich emollients that penetrate deeply to restore skin's vital natural moisture. It also claims to have a formula that doesnt leave skin greasy and that absorbs quickly into the skin, all of which I like.
"Specially formulated with vitamin E,* which has long been recognized for its revitalizing powers, and lanolin, a natural moisturizer. Provides fast, lasting relief for tight, itchy skin" and claims to prevent dry skin from coming back.
*However from www.webmd.com Though researchers have theorized that vitamin E might play a role in reducing inflammation, there's no evidence that putting it on your skin will benefit you. In fact, the kind found in capsules can't be absorbed through the skin. Neither can the vitamin E listed in some lotions you see sold in drug stores.
Hmmm... if it cant be absorbed through the skin then what is the point of adding it to a product?
However, from www.wholehealthmd.com: "As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin E plays a vital role in protecting the body from many chronic disorders. It may even slow the aging process and guard against damage from secondhand smoke and other pollutants. So who do you believe? You can believe neither and just see if you like the product. You can do more research, you can wait until more conclusive research comes out about various vitamins and their healing power.
What this product is like:
I mentioned the size of the bottle and to get an idea, I measured it. It is 9 1/2 inches high which is a big bottle. Suave Skin Therapy is a thick, white lotion. I like the pump action because it allows you to pump out just a little bit or if you push it down all the way you will get quite a bit. In fact playing around with it now I got enough to moisturize both arms just by pushing down on the pump one time. Although it does not feel greasy I do feel it but my hands feel softer than before I used the product. It rubs in immediately and rubs in easily. I have used products that have to be rubbed and rubbed before they disappear (My Eucerin face moisturizer is like that.) but this disappears immediately.
I am becoming more and more interested in the smells of products. I dont think they can cure any illnesses but I do believe some smells may be beneficial for some issues. For example Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)reduces anxiety and restlessness. ((http://www.prevention.com/cda/top10/1,1260,751,00.html)
Perhaps smelling lemon as well as drinking lemon tea will do this. Perhaps not but I figure if I am buying a product I may as well get the most benefits out of it as I can.
The smell of Suave Skin Therapy isnt horrible, but it isnt nice. It is a bit medicinal smelling rather than having that clean smell like Ponds does.
How to use this product
It is suggested that you use it daily, which I do, since it is right above my sink. I dont spend much time in my kitchen cooking but I spend a lot of time in it eating and washing my hands! We are reminded to pay special attention to hands, arms, elbows, knees and legs. It is fine to put it on as often as needed.

The Suave Promise
Suave is made by Helene Curtis and has a guarantee. They guarantee your full satisfaction or we will replace or refund your purchase. For details, see information on package. There is a 1-800 number on this bottle. I didnt call it this time because I had called it when reviewing another product to find out how the refund would happen. A pleasant woman told me that they would send me a coupon or refund my money if I didn't like it. They would only ask for the product if I found a bug in it or if it were leaking...something of that nature.
The company makes the bottle coded for recycling. It is a number 1, though, and in my area, we can only recycle plastics that are number 2.
My final thoughts
The price is right, that we know. All Suave products have terrific prices. There is no sunscreen in this moisturizer so I cant use it when I go outside. I only use it to moisturize. It doesnt smell all that great, so putting it on before bed may not be the best idea. I recommended Clinique deep comfort body moisture and I still like that product. I like Zia body moisturizers as well.
In addition, Suave tests on animals. The fact is that other than the price, this product hasnt done all that much. It lives up to some of its claims. It isnt greasy and it does absorb well but I have been using it for awhile and I find that my skin feels dry again very, very quickly after using it. When they say reapply as needed they are not kidding. You need to be constantly reapplying Skin Therapy to feel moisturized. I am not recommending it. I will spend a bit more for products that dont test on animals, that last longer and smell better.
