| jckatz's Full Review: Sunbeam Hot Shot SN-3211 |
Its 6 AM you are about to start your day, all you need is a fresh hot cup of tea! The best part of waking up is Tetley® Tea in a your cup.
Sadly you are alone and a pot of tea is too much, so you pour a cup inside the Sunbeam Hot Shot, and in 30 seconds you have a cup of water the perfect temperature for brewing tea.
My Shot Shots
I own two Hot Shots one at home is a 12 years old and still works like a charm.
The one at work I just purchase on-line its looks nicer it is white and not beige and it has round corners and not square hard edges. Besides those changes both units work exactly the same.
Using your Hot Shot
The unit will hold up to two cups of water. Simply poor water into the unit close the lid and hit HEAT this will turn on the unit. Wait 30 45 seconds depending on how cold the water was. Then press the DISPENSE button and fill up your cup or bowl.
At work it takes longer since the water I use comes from a water cooler, making my unit work harder.
Placing the Unit
The unit is very small. I would guess it is around 9 tall and with a 4 or 5 circumference. That being said it fits very nicely anywhere in a small kitchen or a crowded desk (I have both)
WARNING, you might want to make sure you dont have too many important papers near the unit incase you spill while pouring water in the units top.
COST
I purchase Tetley Tea 80 bags cost me $2.60 that is around $0.03 a tea bag. Compare that to purchasing yucky Lipton Tea bags in the cafeteria and paying $0.85.
Thats not all, I also have a box of instant oatmeal in my office incase I get hungry. Just add water and walla instant snack.
Home Usage
At home I have many usage, I use it for brewing my loose leaf tea, making instant oatmeal, adding hot water to my instant mash potatoes, and even the gravy for the mash potatoes.
HINTS
The Hot Shot is designed to heat water to the temperature just prior to boiling the perfect temperature for brewing tea, but sometimes you want it at boiling, such as making instant gravy, for items like that just hold down the HEAT button until you hear the water boiling. Dont worry I have a 12 year old Hot Shot so I dont think this does any damage.
That is the only problem this unit faces, while they suggest using it in the office I have found that the electrical cord it comes with is designed more for the kitchen use and the top of a filing cabinet (where I have mine at work) can be too far away from electrical outlets. This problem is easily solved with a $3 extension cord from Radio Shack®.
For all you Tea-Lovers if you want a nice cheap but Tea Bag
