Yes, you read correctly. A facial brush. Interesting isn't it? I thought so too when I first saw this. And now it's one of my most favorite skincare accessories EVER!
The Body Shop Facial Brush
This brush is an accessory designed to work with your facial cleanser. It's only about 5 inches long and it has soft bristles and a small loop so you can hang it in your shower to dry. It also comes with a plastic cover to protect the bristles when you travel. The handle is acrylic so it's very durable and made to last.
So what's it for? Well it serves more than one purpose:
- First of all, it exfoliates. You use it in a circular motion on your face and it removes the dead skin cells as you cleanse.
- Secondly, it stimulates circulation. The bristles massage your face as you move it in a circular motion. And when you stimulate circulation via massaging the skin, it improves skin tone and helps firm the skin. Kind of like exercising the skin as you would a muscle, toning it in the process.
- It gives the skin a deep cleansing and leaves the skin soft and smooth.
When I use this, I wet my face and the brush. I tap the water out of the brush so that it's not running down my arm or anything. Then I do one of two things. I either apply my cleanser directly onto the brush, or I apply my cleanser to my face. Either way, once the cleanser is ready to use, I take the brush and move it in circles all over my face, with slight pressure. The bristles are soft enough that I don't have to worry about damaging the skin or being too harsh with it.
It feels absolutely fantastic on my face. While I'm deep cleansing my skin and exfoliating, I'm getting a facial massage. Ahhhhh it's so relaxing. And boy does it clean my skin! It ramps up my skincare routine big time. It's like super-sizing my cleansing experience. Adding this brush into the cleansing step makes a big difference, whereas before I would just use my fingertips to cleanse. Not anymore... never again. This brush is my new best friend.
When I'm done, I simply rinse the brush and hang it on a hook in my shower so it can dry. It rinses easily and even the smell from the cleanser is washed away. I've used it with several types of cleansers and I've been pleased every time. And each one has rinsed easily from the brush, leaving no residue or scent behind. Good as new each time I am finished. If I am using a gel type cleanser it lathers up really nicely. It makes a little bit of product go a long way, prolonging the life of the product.
If you want to ramp up your cleansing, I highly highly recommend this handy accessory. It's fun and easy to use, and it feels great as well. Like a mini facial massage every time you cleanse. Can't beat it!
