Pros: scent is divine; lather is wonderful; bubbles = good; rinses clean; non drying/irritating
Cons: limited edition; $2 more than every day scents
The Bottom Line: I am in love with the scent but am also impressed that a shower gel isn't drying or irritating to my hyper sensitive skin.

| bops_mom's Full Review: The Body Shop Vanilla Spice Shower Gel |
Since my skin went on a Bath & Body Works strike I have consoled myself with products from The Body Shop. Until now Ive stayed with the Foaming Baths, which Ive used as a bubble bath, but mostly as a shower cream. Ive been more than pleased. Then, for the holidays The Body Shop came out with their Vanilla Spice Shower Gel. No foaming bath, no shower cream. Just shower gel. What was I to do? Why, put it on my Christmas/Birthday with list of course. My great sister-in-law gave it to me for my birthday and Ive been happily using it for the last 2 ˝ months now.
This is a limited edition item, just for the Holidays. 2006 was not the first year The Body Shop carried this scent. They also made a coordinating body butter, hand soap, bar soap and several other items. The shower gel is packaged in a brown clear plastic bottle with handy flip top cap. The full sized bottle holds 8.4 fl. Oz. and was priced around $12 (which is about $2 more than the year round scents).
I use this product in the shower on a bath pouf. It doesnt take a whole lot of it to really get a lovely lather going. Im a big fan of bubbles in the shower. Not only does it lather up beautifully but it then rinses clean very easily. The scent does tend to linger on my skin ever so slightly throughout the day while in the shower the scent is actually pretty powerful.
I happen to love the scent! There is definitely a vanilla smell in there, but what is the strongest is the spice. Its not simply a cinnamon spice, theres more to it than that. It smells like the most amazing spice cake youve ever had, add on vanilla and take away the baked smell a cake has. Its divine. Its like the most amazing Christmastime goodie you can imagine, only in a shower gel. Of course I am a huge vanilla fan and cinnamon is above and beyond vanilla in my book. Problem is when it comes to bath and body products, a cinnamon scent generally means bad things especially for a person with highly sensitive skin like me. The Body Shop appears to know what theyre doing as this product does not burn or irritate my skin in the least.
I was a bit concerned with using this as its a shower gel as gels tend to equal even drier skin for me. My concerns were short lived. Ive found that this product does not dry me out, it doesnt exactly hydrate my skin, but it doesnt make me drier than normal either as many other shower gels tend to do.
My experience with this product has let me know that not only do I really want to get my hands on another bottle should The Body Shop make it for the Holiday 2007 season, but I just might give the other shower gels a try in the meantime. Who knew there was a simple shower gel out there that wouldn't make my skin drier than usual? Not me.
