| ESTIU's Full Review: Poppy Z. Brite - The Lazarus Heart |
Poppy Z. Brite has added a marvelous addition to the story of The Crow. Never before have we ever witnessed a Crow like the one in her novel, The Lazarus Heart. She has made an interesting twist in the realm of The Crow.
When you read this novel you feel everything the main character is going through. You are on the edge of your seat. She shocks you with her vivid details and clearly makes you think about the way you view the rest of the world. You will never look at people the same way. Your mind is opened, after reading this story.
She uses excessive violence but we are dealing with The Crow. The Crow has never been perfect. The violence is needed to make the story come to life. I would not expose anyone too young and immature to this kind of violence. Therefore, this is an adult oriented novel.
Poppy Z. Brite exposes us to the world of homosexuality and what it means to truly love someone. If you are one (like me) who isn't as open-minded on that subject, your views change after reading this novel. I think I have become more accepting to people who are homosexual because of this novel.
The Lazarus Heart truly exposes us to the realm of The Crow.
