The Bottom Line: If you have not read Adams, this is the way to taste his humor without heaping on science fiction or much plot.Great for Adams fans, too.

This is Douglas Adams, author of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, last book. He died last year at the age of 49. Had a heart attack at the gym. Anyway, the book is funny. The short stores in the "Life" section are hilarious. The book is a compilation of articles and interviews, (separated into sections called "Life", "The Universe", and "And Everything") terminated by part of the next book Adams was working on, named The Salmon of Doubt, which is a Dirk Gently detective novel that Adams had already decided he was going to turn into a Hitchhiker book. "Life" is mostly about his life, and "universe" is articles about his views on the universe. Unfortunately, he never got that chance. It's really sad how the book ends right when you think it's starting to get good. But if you've never read Adams, you are missing out on something huge. He has this way of putting together the oddest situations in a way that they actually seem sane. Also, he brings out those funny human situations that we all ignore, for instance, he gives a name to "that vaugely uncomfortable feeling you get when you sit in a chair that is still warm from the previous person." Douglas Adams will be missed.
