We just spent 2 days at the hospital where they thought my 2 year old daughter was diabetic due to completely inaccurate results from a FreeStyle meter. Her doctor gave us a FreeStyle meter last week so that we could monitor her at home and when she was getting 300-400 level readings they admitted her to the hospital. We double checked her every time at the hospital, with their AccuCheck meter and with our FreeStyle meter. An example of the incredible differences in accuracy is that during a 2 hour glucose test, their meter showed a reading of 185 while the FreeStyle showed a reading of 340! Everytime we did a comparative test, they showed similar discrepancies! I am a Type 1 diabetic and until now have used the FreeStyle and loved it...I will never use or recommend this meter to anyone again. It cost us 2 days in the hospital and tests on our 2 year old that she never should of had to endure! STAY AWAY FROM THE FREESTYLE!!!!!
