Pros: April Woo, Mike Sanchez, and Dr. Frank and Glass' attention to real issues
Cons: Never can get enough of April and Mike's blooming relationship
The Bottom Line: If mystery and crime appeal, read something by Leslie Glass which draws from some of today's hot issues that exist for those of us in the real world.

| opinerin's Full Review: Leslie Glass - Tracking Time Books |
One of my favorite detective teams is sort-of back. April Woo and Mike Sanchez, with the reluctant aid of Dr. Frank, are her to save the day. This novel in the Time series explored the world of real teenage angst and sickness. The two teens picture themselves as star-crossed lovers destined to look good on talk shows after they go on a killing spree. Their first victim is a caring psychiatrist who happens to be mentored by Dr. Frank. He mysteriously disappears which draws in another thread to this masterfully woven novel. This thread involves the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man who discovers that the missing doctor is her brother. She disguises herself and had been seeing the doctor, just to be close to him. This in turn draws her into the teens' plans as well.
This particular section of the story interested me. It contrasted a truly troubled girl who was without the benefit of expensive education, wealth, and family. She is captured by the two teens who are sick. They draw their sickness from what Holden Caulfield would describe as the "phoniness" of it all. These teens have wealth and minimal intelligence gained from expensive schooling. Yet their parents haven't a clue as to the true nature of their 'precious' children and what they are doing out in the streets of New York. They substitute true interest in their children's lives with cell phones and limo rides.
The commentary on this topic is nothing new to the series. Many topics are explored by Glass throughout her series. In this novel she briefly touches on issues involving the homeless, interracial relationships, and the value of family. This adds another dimension to what would otherwise be simply another crime series. Hurray for Leslie Glass and her characters.
