Pros: Inexpensive and light weight.
Cons: Initial starting instructions are a bit confusing at first. Not Well Balanced.
The Bottom Line: More economical, less polluting too. Ease of servicing the trimmer and it is lightweight.

This reviewer bought the Troy-Bil Model TB415CS to replace a 10 plus year old Ryobi 2-cycle trimmer fitted with a conventional spring-loaded head spool.
I found the trimmer inside its box with all of it labeled components that needed to be attached from the outset an easy to put together machine.
Unlike conventional 2-cycle motors, the Troy-Bilt conforms to the much tougher pollution laws that many states are currently following.
Following the instructions closely for first time start-up procedures, the Troy-Bilt trimmer started without difficulty.
Overall the balance is just OK, but nothing great because of the shorter shaft. For those like me who are height challenged at 5 foot seven inches it is suitable and handles well.
The enclosed oil, SAE 30 will last about 10 hours before the first change out. Just undo the fill cap, and tilting the trimmer into an approved collection container just drain the oil per the instructions in the owners manual which is simplistic and easy to understand.
The instructions state to save the used oil container so you can use it to add new oil to the crankcase when needed. Heed that advice as it is difficult to pour oil into the crankcase otherwise.
Unlike the large button spool which can become jammed resulting in no payout of the trimming line, the single .109 inch trimmer line that comes with the trimmer are easy to replace and adjust if needed.
Weighing in at just 13 pounds before oil and gas are added the Troy-Bilt trimmer is easy to handle and it has fittings on it for an optional shoulder strap should one desire to use a strap.
