| dillngr9's Full Review: Weight Watcher's Points Weight Loss Program with F... |
I joined Weight Watchers in January of 2006, about one week after buying my wedding dress and realizing that I did not look like I wanted to look on my wedding day. I followed the program strictly for 4 months, losing 30 pounds and I felt great. I was a little more lenient in June, with several birthdays, parties, events, etc. going on. But then I stuck with it again through July and August. Once September hit, I did not eat as well as I should have, but the stress of my October wedding may have counteracted that. Overall, I lost 30 pounds and loved the way I looked on my wedding day!
The program is very easy to follow, especially using the online tracking system. But you quickly learn the point system. You have an alotted number of points per day, depending on what you weigh. Then you have 35 weekly points to use as you wish. Some people use a few each day, some save those for a special event. You can also earn activity points by exercising. I used all of my points each week and lost weight. I'd say the first week or two are the hardest because you find that you're hungry a lot, but your stomach gets used to eating a smaller amount of food and it's not that bad. And if you load up on veggies and other low point snacks, you can munch on them in between meals.
After my wedding, starting with the honeymoon, of course, I gave up the healthy thing and ate whatever I wanted. It's been 6 months and I think I have gained about 10 pounds back. My husband and I do not do Weight Watchers specifically, but I know the point value for a lot of things so we do it on a modified basis to get healthy again.
If you have a specific goal (i.e. a wedding dress to fit into), I think it is a lot easier to stick to Weight Watchers. Now that I don't have that specific goal, I found that it is a lot easier to make exceptions here and there and to not watch what I am eating.
The online WW is great, though. There is a really good point trackers, a great community with message boards, tons of recipes to peruse, fitness ideas, inspiring stories, etc. If I could afford to stay on the website right now, I would, but it doesn't fit into my budget at the time. I would definitely recommend doing it - and doing it with a friend to keep each other in line!
