As a rule, steer clear of early Neons, the head gaskets (composite) are substandard. My 95 left me stranded due to a faulty gas gauge sending unit. The fan belt would slip whenever hitting a puddle - total loss of assisted steering ability - completely without warning. Sloppy shifter. Divers side door plastic on lower half easily cracks if impacted (accidentally kicked) in low tempratures. Annoying, intermittent high pitched A/C condenser noise. Leaky trunk weatherstripping, and an optically distorted windshield round out my complaints. Good performance, I love flogging her to the redline whenever I get the chance. Good motor (other than the gasket). Forgiving handling, even at the limit. This is a "city" car, where the engine and road noise is a thrill to listen to. This car sucks on the open road (too noisy). Sport Coupes have the upgraded engine, struts, steering ratio, stabilizer bars, 4 wheel discs, distinctive alloy wheels, different exaust, badges, bulge hood, rear spoiler and fog lights other 95's don't - know the difference.
