my subaru legacy goes from being a plain slightly boring wagon to superwagon when it starts to snow here in northern VT. I ski close to the Canadian border (Jay Peak) - and for me the subaru legacy has been the ticket! With 4 snows and half of the backseat folded down, the legacy holds my two sets of skis without having to bother with a roof rack - the all wheel drive pulls me up the steepest hills on the way to ski, and has pulled me out of some strange parking spaces as well.
Good climate control - good handling and excellent reliability.
My only real gripe was the drivers seating position - for some reason it gave me a back ache when i first bought it. I put in a generic lumbar pillow - and the back pain went away.
I don't find the wagon underpowered - but then again i'm not drag racing anyone either.
