At first my 2000 Buick Century Limited was a lease, however, I liked it so much when the lease was up I purchased it (at about 45K miles). This vehicle now has approximately 70K miles and I've never had a stitch of trouble with it. This is my favorite car that I've ever owned (to give you an idea of range of vehicles I've owned they include an Altima, two Audis, a 4WD Toyota truck, a 4WD Bronco, a Cutlass, Oldsmobile 98, an older Vette, older Charger, & a Chevelle)
What I love about my Buick most - comfort
This car is smooth, quiet and very comfortable! Mine is loaded with leather, power everything and dual climate control. Truly, IMO, the seats in this car are more comfortable than many cars I've been in that cost almost twice as much. My husband is the fleet/internet manager at the dealership from which I purchased this car, and even he loves its comfort and quite ride better than most other vehicles. I have even received compliments from passengers on it's comfort! Okay, it's not as quiet and smooth and comfy as some high end luxury cars, but it's a really nice vehicle in the mid range. The stock stereo (cd/tape/am/fm)is quite decent, there's pretty good interior storage (in the front flip down arm rest, glove box, and pockets in each door and back of front seats), the trunk is big - can hold luggage and golf clubs with ease.
Sort of mechanical stuff
No real problems to report. We changed to higher quality tires, and the ride is smoother, car handles nicer, we use a synthetic oil, but that's basically it. The 6 cylinder engine (3.1) does great. There's no problem with maintaining speed on steep hills, and the car accelerates well on passing. I get roughly 25 miles to a gallon, use regular (87).
What could be better
This car would be perfect if: 1) The drink holders were made a little better, and there were some in the backseat, 2) the air dam under the front of the car didn't scrape on the road when driven over a deep dip (like in some driveways - it can be quite loud!), and 3) there was a flip down opening from the backseat to the trunk to transport really long items.
Conclusion
If you're reading this, you're likely considering the purchase of a used Century, and based on my experience I would highly recommend it. The one thing I can tell you in regards to the oh so comfy seats in mine is that not all Century seats are the same - even when they look exactly the same, go figure! In fact, I have never been in a Century with seats that are as nice as mine, so I hope you luck out like I did!
