| jenlee's Full Review: FedEx Express Saver |
FedEx is trying to use Express Saver as their alternative to UPS Ground. Since they bought RPS, they also have an alternative service called "FedEx Ground" which is cheaper and takes forever, just like UPS. Express Saver is a tad more expensive than UPS but for cross country service, it can't be beat.
UPS Ground takes a full week to deliver from coast to coast under normal delivery circumstances, which is a long time to wait. FedEx delivers in 3 business days, which is great if you're an impatient person. In addition, FedEx Express Saver is more reliable than UPS Ground and always arrives in a timely fashion.
This includes Christmas time. The 3 weeks before Christmas, all bets are off in terms of service guarantees for UPS and FedEx except for overnight and second day delivery. God help anyone who tries to send something UPS Ground 2 weeks before Christmas. You better pray for a miracle that it gets there before Kris Kringle does. FedEx Express Saver, even though not guaranteed, will get there, as long as you send it a full week before Christmas. When I sent things out for my e-commerce company, we shipped Christmas items through the mail, via FedEx and UPS depending on the proximity of the recipient. Time and time again, FedEx Express Saver delivered on time with only 5 shopping days to go. We weren't as happy with UPS, believe me.
If you have a little extra money, FedEx is definitely worth it. If you're a last minute gift giver at Christmas and can't afford air delivery, this is your best bet.
