I purchased this computer to edit DV footage. The Sony utils are adequate, though there are several better software products on the market. From the start, this PC has been a pain. The keyboard kept cutting out. It took months to finally reach a person on the phone at Sony and more months to replace the keyboard. Sony does not support their computers. Visit their support website and look at the non-support for Windows 98SE (crashes) or Win 2000 (their software doesn't work in this OS). It's been this way for at least a year now (for the predecessors of this model like the DS528). On top of that, this is an anemic computer. Only takes 256M ram and has only 3 PCI slots. Add to that a cheesy pair of speakers and you'll see it's no bargain. Better to get yourself a Dell, Gateway or Compaq and add a firewire card. Then add Adobe Premiere or Ulead Media Studio for a real, supported and upgradable computer.
