| mchugh2001's Full Review: Lenovo ThinkPad 570 (5703BUK) PC Notebook |
I purchased the 570 as part of a school program requirement. I paid about $2800 for the unit in total, which included the large screen and hard disk. I could have saved a few hundred dollars if I had gone with the smaller options.
As a student, it is an outstanding machine. I take the machine with me and leave the Ultrabase behind at home. This can cause a problem sometimes when I want to share files with other students and the network is down, but it's usually not a problem- especially with the IR port. The trackpoint is the superior pointer device.
This machine is perfect for anyone who just wants to "compute" without the CD-ROM and floppy drive. It's incredibly light and very slim.
I've had no warranty problems with it, but occasionally the screen has some electrical signal/connection issues. Also, like any other Wintel machine, it crashes sometimes if you overload it. The only complaints I have are with the OS, not the hardware.
