I upgraded from the 870cse to the 1220 and I couldn't be happier. I've started doing photo restorations on my computer and the 1220 delivers near-photo quality prints. The picture color from screen to paper is very close also.
I bought the postscript model (1220cp/s) to handle everything I do in Photoshop and Illustrator. I did have a few problems at first because the instructions for installing the Macintosh printer driver were flawed and therefore caused the postscript software not to install. Once I fixed that problem, everything worked fine.
I am extremely pleased with the length of life of the ink cartridge. I have already printed over 20 4x6 photos in best mode, a couple 8x10's, and at least 100 regular sheets of paper. I have yet to change the ink cartridge.
I haven't had a paper jam with it yet. I use the hp 4x6 photo paper, which is 145lb paper. I have noticed that greeting card paper will pull through a little crooked in the upper tray. That is easily remedied by loading it in the bottom tray.
The one thing it doesn't do is it won't bleed to the bottom edge of 4x6 photo paper. I'm still working on a way to do it, but none of the documentation that came with the printer shows me how.
