These are the best sounding computer speakers I've ever heard. Hands down. I don't care about what technologies are used, or how you're "supposed" to place them, they just KICK ASS! I recently upgraded to these coming from the Boston Acoustics Media Theater, so I know what good sound is.
True, you are supposed to position them directly at your ears, but it's more like a guideline, they will sound better that way. But the sonic clarity of these speakers are incredible. They come with this HUGE subwoofer that has it's own level control, which is great. The sound eminates from both the front and rear of the panel, more sound.
I played some songs on hear that I can't "hear" right anywhere, not on my home system, not in my car with a Bose, nowhere. The monsoons play the song back with no distortion to the singers voice even with a heavy bass beat behind him. It is just amazing.
What's really killer is the price, Why go out and get the BA Media Theaters or Klipsch speakers for double to triple the price? These bad boys only cost me $150! For this?! It's a steal...
If you're looking for the best in home computer audio, you owe it to yourself to check out the Monsoon 1000's, they are quite a sight to see, and hear.
