I have tried almost every wireless service provider out there...from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and MCI. Granted that no company there has a perfect record for service. Every now and then I get dropped calls or lack of signal. But never have I been so frustrated as I was with MCI. I subscribed to MCI three years ago and I'm still having problems with them.
Like almost all the other service providers MCI had its share of dropped calls and no signal zones. But unlike most of the companies I've dealt with, MCI has the most non-existant customer service in the world! And in an industry where not much else separates you from your competition, MCI does horrible job of satisfying its customers.
I went away to India for 3 months and asked them to suspend my service. They agreed to do it. However when I came back, I found out that my service had not been cancelled and they charged me not only the monthly service charge of 49.99 for each of the three months but also late payment charges. When I came back and tried to dispute the charges explaining to them that I had been out of the country and had not even used my phone, they refused to remove the charges. I went through a long and exhaustive process of trying to get to a customer service (each call took a minimum of 30 minutes of being on hold just to speak to someone)supervisor. They kept giving me the run around and told me they would have the supervisor call me back. This never happened. In the meantime, they declared my account delinquent for the amount they charged me while I was supposed to have suspended my service.
After 6 months, we finally settled the issue and MCI decided to finally clear the charges of my account. Then a year later, MCI decided to send me a notice again from a collection agency stating that I owed money on my account. It was the same fees that they had agreed to remove. Again I went through the process of calling customer service time and again with long waits. And again they resolved the issue. And then guess what, I just received a month ago from MCI? ANother notice stating that my account is past due (3 years). Well, it seems they are not very good at keeping records and have no concept of customer relationship management. I have written a letter once again to the agency that is acting on behalf of MCI. I have not received any acknowledgement of my response!
What amazes me the most is that while MCI is claiming that I owe them past due bills, over the last three years, they have consistently solicited my business by having telemarketers calling my home and sending me junk mail. If I truly owe them money what company in its right mind send me solicitations? I am at the end of my rope with MCI. It is not even a wireless service provider since it "rents" its towers from Verizon and AT&T.
