| march813's Full Review: KLH ASW10-100 Subwoofer Speaker |
I apologize if this is short but I hope this gets the point across.
I bought my first KLH ASW10-120 in August of 2000, when I first hooked it up, it sounded pretty good.
As for the technical features, there is a knob so that the frequency range is adjustable so as to let the user turn it down so that only really low bass comes out or turn the freq. up to let a higher range of sounds be played through the Sub...fairly standard.
Then there is also the volume knob which is pretty self-explanatory and good if you live in an apartment or condo. There are low-level inputs (RCA jacks) and high-level inputs for those that use them (normal wire connections for receivers without a "sub out" RCA jack).
Like I said, the thing sounded pretty good when I first hooked it up. 2 months after I got it, it didn't work. There was some faint grumbling coming out of it but basically it just stopped working. I didn't blow it out, I never had the thing turned up real loud, it just stopped working. (Mind you it was only 2 months after I got it)
So I took it back and told them what happened...how I hadn't had it turned up real loud or anything, it just stopped working and somehow got them to give me a new one for mine.
I took the new one home and hooked it up and again, it sounded pretty good. Sure enough, 2 months later same thing, stopped working...just kind of mumbles now. I tried everything. I have 2 different receivers(see my other opinion on one) and tried it on both of them to conclude it was the sub. The rest of my speakers work fine and I have had no problems with anything else. As a matter of fact, I now use 100-watt Sony model that works just fine.
Pretty much, the KLH when it was working was a good deal and sounded good but BOTH? stopped working after 2 months?
Like any opinion, this is only my experience. I read some of the other opinions and they seem to like their Sub but my advice is to spend a few more dollars and get a better quality sub.
Hope this helps and thanks for reading.
