| wilsontam's Full Review: Sony Network Walkman NW-E3 (64 MB) MP3 Player |
My experience using this product:
The Sony NW-E3 is very small indeed, so small that I can't even find it in my backpack sometime. The buttons are not BIG, and it doesn't come with a remote like the MDs. The indigo backlit is really nice, it lits the entire LCD. It even have a wavy bar thing build in, instead of displaying
the name of the song. The ear plugs that are included are designed for this product, it is very short in length, the neck strap is useless, in my case. Battery life is OK, but can't last what I expected. The case is build of Al (aluminum), which can be scratched easily if it's dropped. The OpenMG software is very annoying, it requires songs to be check-in/check-out before you can carry it around. By the way, this is NOT a MP3 player, it is a ATRAC player, which is an encoding technology used by Sony.
The reason Why I bought this product:
By the size and features. Comparing this to my bulkly Diamond Rio 500, the Sony wins big time. Size really
matter in this case, it is just a bit bigger than a lighter and as light as 2 ounces. Since it is playing
MP3, I can ensure that it is digital stuffs that I'm listening to. By degrading the encoding rate to 66kbps, I can check-in roughly 32 MP3s into the player at once.
What do I hate about this product:
The one and only downslide to this Mp3 player is the OpenMG software. Without the software, you cannot check-in/check-out songs, and if you format your system without emptying your player first, you have to send it back to Sony and let them to remove the contents for a fee. The USB
cable is also annoying, if you lost or accidentally broke it. Sure, you can just buy another one from Sony's website, but it cost $60 USD + $6 USD S/H. Wow, isn't that nice for Sony.
