Bel vs. Escort - I don't think so

Pros: Good range

Cons: Complicated windshield mount, annoying tones, and hard to navigate program options

The Bottom Line: If you want the best value, drive a Passport 8500 for 30 days

Bel and Escort have been arch rivals for decades. Now it appears that they are the same company somehow. In any event, I have owned both and find that the Passport 8500 is easier to use, has minimum false alarms, and doesn't drive you crazy with chirps and dings.

Passport has an easy to use interface for programming, an integrated windshield mount that you don't have to assemble like the Bel, and looks and feels like it's retail price. It's well packaged and has won every independent radar detector test done since its release.

If you looking for the best all around detector, look no further than Escort.
